9.0 Construction
Process
Using renewable natural materials such as wood and bamboo,
the dwellings are often constructed without using metals such as nails. Instead
of pre-cut holes and grooves are used to meet the elements of wood into one another,
effectively making prefabricated houses.
Although the nail has been created and the houses are then
used minimally to non-structural elements (eg, windows or panels), flexibility
is a benefit structure that prevents tacking. Without nails, a wooden house can
be demolished and rebuilt in a new location. Most of the ancient Malay
Southeast Asia maintain a culture of environmental self-regeneration.
Roof like an inverted V shape is introduced. At a meeting on
the roof top of the lid separated by buttresses called tulang perabung (bone
ridge). Roof form is known also with the roof folding roof awnings and long
roof. After the arrival of the Dutch and English, home designs started to
deform to the shape of the limas style and Dutch style.

In line with the changes and developments in technology,
methods of building houses also changed. In the initial stage, the only way to
build the house is to tied up the leveling joinery. Puncture system was
introduced. Similarly, the use of wood nails, known also by pemeting to strengthen supply to the house.
Round pillars and rattan or root is used to strengthen the joints. Dovetail
joints made to blink so on angular columns and wooden beams pierced for the
passage and insertion.
